FINLAND MAKES CONTRIBUTION INTO AFGHANISTAN'S RECOVERY

HELSINKI, April 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti). In 2005-2007 Finland will allocate 30 million euros on Afghanistan's recovery, spokesman for the Finnish Foreign Ministry Paeivi Luostarinen said at the international conference on Afghanistan in Berlin.

At the 2002 conference in Tokyo Finland assumed an obligation to allocate 30 million euros in 2002-2004. It is going to add 3 million euros to this sum by the end of 2004.

According to Paeivi Luostarinen, Finland also contributes into Afghanistan's military security. Since 2002 Finnish servicemen have been involved in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. 52 Finnish soldiers stay in Afghanistan today. In addition, Finland is to send six firemen to Kabul's international airport in April.

Altogether 56 countries participate in the conference in Berlin. The international community is to allocate $12.6 million to Afghanistan in the near future. Afghanistan will get $4.4 billion till 2005 and $8.2 billion in 2005-2007.
