RUSSIA TO PRESERVE POST OF ENVOY TO EU

BERLIN, April 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russia will preserve the post of envoy to the European Union, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

According to him, Sergei Yastrzhembsky was recently appointed Russian President's aide in charge with the development of relations with the European Union. "It does not replace the post of Russia's envoy to the EU, who is to be appointed still," Mr. Lavrov said.

Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov formerly held this post.
