MOSCOW, April 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The Russian State Duma ad hoc committee intends to reject a draft on terrorist attacks coverage in the media, which imposes certain restrictions, Information Policy State Duma committee said on Thursday.
"At its session the committee unilaterally voted for recommending the State Duma to reject the draft in the first reading." In particular, the document provides for harsh restrictions when covering terrorist attacks, even prohibition to broadcast their aftermath, the interviewee said.
The draft amending the federal law on the media was advanced by Mikhail Yurevich, a United Russia faction deputy.
