GROZNY, April 5 (RIA Novosti) - A member of so-called "brigadier general" Taus Bagurayev's bandit group was arrested in Chechnya, the Regional Operational Staff for controlling the counter terrorist operation in the North Caucasus told RIA Novosti.

"He was detained by law enforcement officers during an operation," a spokesman for the Staff said. The spokesman added that Yunus Batsiyev, a militant, voluntarily surrendered his Kalashnikov during the arrest.

"Checks have begun on Batsiyev and he has been issued an order not to leave," the spokesman said.

In addition, in Gudermes (Chechnya's second largest city) another militant, Murtaz-Ali Matuyev, gave himself up. He voluntarily surrendered three hand grenades.

Presently, Matuyev is testifying against other militants.
