EUROPEAN COMMISSION INTERESTED IN EU TROIKA MEETING IN DUBLIN

MOSCOW, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - The European Commission is paying a great deal of attention to the forthcoming meeting of the European Union Troika in Dublin on April 14, Vincent Picket, the assistant to the European Commission's representative in Moscow, said at a press conference on Friday.

"The meeting was planned for the end of February, but in connection with the changes in the Russian government, has been postponed until April," he said.

In Mr. Picket's opinion, at the EU Troika meeting a broad range of issues will be discussed, including international problems such as the Middle East, Iraq and the fight against terrorism.

At the same time, Mr. Picket said that the Permanent Partnership Council is engaged in the realization of a concrete agreement on partnership and cooperation.

The Netherlands, the former chair of the EU, Ireland, the current chair of the EU, and representatives of the European Commission will participate in the EU Troika meeting.

The Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in the EU Troika meeting on April 14 in Dublin. A session of the Permanent Partnership Council will be held on April 27 in Luxembourg.
