ARJAN ERKEL IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, April 11 (RIA Novosti) Coordinator of the Medecines sans Frontieres citizen of the Netherlands, Arjan Erkel was released on the Saturday to Sunday night in the course of an operation by security structures of that Caspian autonomy of Russia, and now he is in Moscow.

According to the Embassy of The Netherlands in Moscow Mr. Erkel stays in the residence of the Ambassador.

"Erkel feels well, he was examined by a doctor. He will fly home tonight," said the Embassy representative.

Prime-Minister of The Netherlands Jan Peter Balkenende expressed his pleasure over the release of Mr. Erkel. The Prime Minister called Arjan's father Mr. Dick Erkel and wished happiness to the family.

"Minister of Foreign affairs of The Netherlands Ben Bot learned with relief and joy about the release of the Dutch subject," a spokesman from the Dutch Foreign Ministry said. The spokesman also said that Mr. Bot was grateful to the Russian government, the governments of other countries, and international organizations for assistance rendered in the liberation of Erkel.

A representative of the Medecines sans Frontieres has also expressed his satisfaction with the liberation of their colleague and said that the most important was the soonest return of Arjan Erkel to The Netherlands and reunion with his family.
