YEREVAN, April 12, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - In Armenia, from May 2004 to May 2005, the 90th anniversary of the 1915 genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire will be remembered. The Armenia government told RIA Novosti that the program of the events was discussed at a government session led by Andranika Markarjana, the prime minister.
Included in the events an international conference on genocide will be held in Yerevan on April, 20-23, 2005.
International conferences will also take place in Russia, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
Also, Yerevan plans to lead work to get recognition from international organizations that there was a genocide of Armenians in 1915 and to expand the number of countries that recognize that fact.
