NOVO-OGAREVO, April 15 (RIA Novosti) - Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan met in summitry this afternoon at Novo-Ogarevo, presidential country residence near Moscow. The visitor congratulated his host on a victory in Russia's presidential poll of March 14.
The landslide victory in one round showed public confidence in President Putin. To countries linked to Russia with partnerly ties, and those that orient on Russia, that victory came as firm promise of Russia and adjacent areas retaining stability. As the nation was voting for Putin, it was voting for policies the incumbent determined toward the end of his initial presidential term, said Mr. Karimov.
"Whatever you are doing now, especially an administrative reform, indicate Russia's stabilisation and assured progress. All who regard Russia as partner and ally are glad to see it," he reassured.
