Three hundred and fifty-two deputies voted for this decision, with 226 votes mandatory for this decision to be adopted.
The parliament also rejected two resolutions put to voting on the unacceptability of this treaty.
The Treaty on the State Border between Ukraine and Russia was signed by Presidents of the two states Vladimir Putin and Leonid Kuchma on January 28, 2003 in Kiev. The document establishes the ground borders, as for questions pertaining to adjacent sea territories they are to be regulated by separate agreements. The treaty will come into force from the moment when the sides exchange instruments of ratification.
At present the deputies of the Ukrainian parliament are examining the law on the ratification of the Treaty on Russian-Ukrainian Cooperation in Using the Sea of Azov and the Kerchen Strait.
