Pulat Samatov, Uzbek deputy justice minister, has said to RIA Novosti on Tuesday that the ministry has considered the Open Society application and found several violations of Uzbek legislation.
Particularly, three training resource centres for lecturers and students of Uzbek colleges and universities have been opened without licenses for academic work, Samatov said.
This is contrary to the corresponding Uzbek laws, saying that work of state educational establishments shall be licensed in the duly established procedure, Samatov said.
The Justice Ministry also drew the attention of the Open Society Institute to "the non-transparency of spending the financial resources" allocated for establishing its branch in Uzbekistan, he said.
"The Soros Foundation has bought and spread among educational establishments training-methods literature on socio-humanitarian subjects containing information distorting the gist and content of the socio-economic, public and political reforms under way in Uzbekistan", added the Uzbek deputy justice minister.
