TBILISI, April 21 (RIA Novosti) - There is a plot to assassinate Aslan Abashidze, recalcitrant president of Adzharia, autonomy within Georgia. The plot is brewing at Georgia's top, warns Irina Sarishvili-Chanturia, National Protection League president.
She had talked to Mr. Abashidze two days ago on the matter, and called him to reinforce his bodyguards, the community activist said to the media today.
She has informants of her own in Georgian secret services. Bearing out what they say are goings-on round Batumi, Adzhar capital, as venue of a world women's chess championship of May 27-June 7. Georgia's top is dead set against Batumi hosting the contest. Foreign visitors crowding the city will impede secret services' evil plot, explains Miss Sarishvili-Chanturia.
