GROZNY, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - Three policemen have been killed and six wounded in a clash in Chechnya, the republic's interior ministry told RIA Novosti on Sunday.
"Earlier, a group of 15 militants shelled a provisional military base of two military units of the Russian internal police forces from automatic weapons in Starye Atagi of the Groznensky district at 3 pm Moscow time," said the source.
In his words, the shelling killed two contract servicemen - a junior sergeant and a private. A senior officer of the criminal investigation department of the Moscow region - a senior lieutenant died of sustained wounds.
A commander of the platoon - a lieutenant, and his deputy - an ensign, and also four conscripts - a sergeant, a private first class and two privates - were wounded and are in hospital.
Two attackers were killed by return fire. They are being identified.
