According to him, only a society that treats terrorism and drugs as evils, which have not justification, can effectively counter them.
The mass media can contribute considerably to nurturing such an attitude to these problems. Mr. Bordyuzha called on the media to take energetic steps against terrorism and drug abuse through information. "What we need is an advance, joint efforts, courage and offensive tactics," Mr. Bordyuzha said.
"You have to ask yourselves whether it is possible to have an information front against the modern threats and what is journalists' role in this drive," said Mr. Bordyuzha.
Journalists from the CSTO member-countries, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and countries outside the CIS, legislative and representative government officials, law enforcement officials from CSTO countries (Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia) and representatives of international security organisations are participating in the forum, which is currently being held in Moscow.
The participants are expected to develop principles of and approaches to information counteraction to political and religious radicalism and other challenges threatening the civilized development of society.
