MOSCOW, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - The investment program of Russian natural gas monopoly Gazprom meets Russia's domestic demand in natural gas and ensures exports as well, Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko said after a Gazprom board meeting on Tuesday.

"The positive aspect of Gazprom's investment program for 2005-2006 is that proceeding from the company's own interests and considering the Russian Energy Strategy from today until 2020, it complies with certain priorities, related both to fulfilling the company's obligations on gas exports and to the need to meet the domestic demand, i.e., adequate supplies to industrial consumers and the communal housing sector," the ministry's press service quoted him as saying.

According to Mr. Khristenko, the total volume of investment is rather impressive: 212.3 billion rubles ($1 equals 29 rubles) in 2004, 258.6 billion rubles in 2005, and 277 billion rubles in 2006. 58.6% of the investment will be allocated to develop gas transportation system, 21.6% to gas production projects.
