MOSCOW, April 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russian oil giant LUKOIL was the first among other Russian oil companies and civil aviation airport services to fuel Lufthansa aircraft with self-produced Jet A-1 propellant.

A LUKOIL press release says it has become possible after many years of company's experience with creation of fuel producing facilities and fuel transportation system to the requirements set forth by the International Air Transportation Association (IATA).

The fuel is being produced in the Kstovsky oil refinery subject to the LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez company whose capacities make it possible to produce 35,000 tons of Jet A-1 propellant per month.

The Russian state committee for standards granted the Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez company a certificate, which confirms the company is entitled to produce the Jet A-1 propellant. The IATA commission confirmed the propellant met the international requirements.

Lufthansa aircraft are being fueled by means of the NORSI-Avia fueling facility, whose substantial package of shares is owned by the LUKOIL-Volganefteprodukt company. The company is based in the Nizhny Novgorod International Airport (400 kilometers away from Moscow).

Lufthansa runs on regular passenger service to Nizhniy Novgorod three times a week and uses the airport to refuel its cargo planes heading to Sweden. Average capacity of fuel tanks of the Lufthansa aircraft is 30 tons.

Currently, LUKOIL is negotiating Jet A-1 propellant deliveries to other international airlines bound to Moscow Sheremetyevo-2 and Vnukovo airports.

LUKOIL intends to have the same propellant producing facilities in its other oil refineries.
