PARIS, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - A photo exhibition devoted to Russian veterans of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) has opened in the Russian science and culture centre in Paris.

The exhibition is featuring 45 photo portraits of living veterans from across Russia. Many of them went to the front right from the historical military parade on Red Square, which took place on November 7, 1941, when German troops approached Moscow.

Doris Kloster, author of the photo portraits, said the exhibition was designed to show the USSR's decisive role in the victory over fascism. Today, a month prior to the 60th anniversary of the allied forces' landing in Normandy and of the opening of the Second Front people are beginning to forget that the Soviet Union bore the major burden in that war, according to the photographer.

The exhibition is also featuring more than 600 archive photographs, posters and pictures, which will be included in a book with a laconic title, "Victory," that will come out in France in 2005 to coincide in time with the 60th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.
