TBILISI, May 1 (RIA Novosti) - Anzor Dumbadze, Deputy Interior Minister of Adzharia, an autonomy in Georgia, has left for the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, Saturday, Adzharian Opposition spokesperson told the Novosti-Georgia news agency.

According to the spokesperson, Dumbadze has taken the side of Georgia's central government in its standoff with Batumi and refuses to obey orders of Adzharian leader Aslan Abashidze.

Earlier, the 25th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Georgian Defense Ministry withdrew from Batumi. Its former commander, General Roman Dumbadze, declared disobedience to the central government and the transition under Abashidze's command. Some analysts argue that the general's move was prompted by legal proceedings launched against him by the Georgian Prosecutor General's Office on embezzlement charges.
