TBILISI, May 6 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili highly assesses the role of the Russian president in the settlement of the Georgian-Adzharian conflict, Novosti-Georgia agency reports.

"Putin played a positive rule in resolving the situation in Adzharia, in preventing violence and bad consequences," Mikhail Saakashvili told journalists.

According to him, "A bloodless mini-revolution took place in Adzharia - the first case of successful struggle against separatism in the post-Soviet space." The Georgian president also stressed that two times a year - on November 23 and May 6 - the country marks "Giorgoba", the Day of St George, the Victorious.

"It may be a chance or coincidence but a bloodless revolution took place two times in Georgia precisely these days. Now you can think yourself - was it a chance or coincidence. I think that these coincidences mean that Georgia will be a strong country. We will be, by all means, present in Sukhumi (the capital of Abkhazia - the self-proclaimed republic on the territory of Georgia) as well but we don't know exactly when," Saakashvili declared.

According to Georgian prime minister Zurab Zhvaniya, "the epoch of Eduard Shevardnadze ended on the Day of St. George, the Victorious on November 23. On May 6, also the Day of St. George, the Victorious Aslan Abashidze resigned. A bright and happy future will set in Georgia.
