MOSCOW, MAY 6 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian military base in Batumi, (the capital of the Adzharian autonomy within Georgia) is functioning in its normal regime, RIA Novosti was told by head of the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry Vyacheslav Sedov.
"All servicemen at military base No12 in Batumi are in places of permanent location and are working in a routine regime." Vyacheslav Sedov said.
He specified that the Russian servicemen were engaged in guarding the facilities at the military base with due account of the obtaining situation in the region.
"The Russian servicemen have not and will not intervene in the situation which is developing between Tbilisi and Batumi," Sedov stressed.
In his words, the servicemen are engaged in routine matters in line with earlier approved plans."
