MOSCOW, May 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russian and Afghan Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Abdullah Abdullah held talks in Moscow. They focused on ways to improve trade and economic ties.

Creation of favorable conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation of relevant Russian and Afghan structures was also discussed, says a statement of the Russian foreign ministry information and press department distributed Saturday on results of the Afghan minister's visit to Moscow.

International and regional problems were also touched upon.

The foreign ministers discussed the domestic policy situation in Afghanistan, the course of state and economic development of that country, efficient counteraction to illegal drugs turnover, says the statement.

The Russian side confirmed that its foreign policy line remains the same, that is, aimed at "revival of a peaceful, democratic, independent and neutral Afghan state living in harmony with its neighbors" and other countries, says the document.
