GROZNY BOMB ATTACK IS AN ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST ALL CHECHEN PEOPLE-DUMA SPEAKER

MOSCOW, May 9 (RIA Novosti) - Boris Gryzlov, Speaker of the State Duma, or Russia's lower house of parliament, has qualified today's bomb attack in Chechnya's capital, Grozny, as an act of violence against all of the Chechen people. Four people were killed in the blast, including the republic's President, Ahmad Kadyrov.

This Sunday, Russia is celebrating its victory over the Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In Gryzlov's words, a terror act committed on such a sacred day is a "challenge to civilization and humanism." In the Duma Speaker's view, the nation is being defied by some dark, inhuman forces, who seek to perpetuate bloodshed. Those behind today's terror act in Grozny have surpassed all limits, he said.

Gryzlov said he was sure that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. He called on society to come together and repulse the onslaught of the forces of evil.

"We prevailed in 1945 and we will now," the Duma Speaker said emphatically.
