RUSSIAN SERVICEMAN DETAINED IN BATUMI RELEASED UPON INDENTIFICATION

TBILISI, May 11 (RIA Novosti's Marina Kvaratskhelia) - After his documents were checked and personality established by the Georgian law-enforcers in Batumi (capital of the Adzharian autonomy), a serviceman of the Russian group of troops in the Transcaucasian region was released.

"In detainment, the Russian serviceman did not have the identity card. It took the law-enforcers half an hour only to establish his personality, after which he was released", Georgi Ugulava, Georgian deputy minister for state security, told reporters.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry voiced concern over the detainment of the Russian serviceman.
