TBILISI, May 15 (RIA Novosti) - On May 20 Sukhumi, the capital of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia, will host Georgian-Abkhazian talks to settle the conflict and ease tension.
Georgian State Minister for Separatist Conflicts Georgy Khaindrava and Abkhazian Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba achieved this agreement by phone, said the press service of the Georgian State Chancellery.
"The Abkhazian side was dissatisfied with the tensions caused by Georgian media statements that Abkhazia can follow the Adzharian scenario," the press service said.
Mr. Khaindrava assured Mr. Shamba that there are no reasons for tensions. According to the state minister, Georgia has no intention to carry out any scenario in Abkhazia.
Sergei Shamba confirmed that additional police forces were deployed in settlements on the Georgian border in order to prevent any unsanctioned actions from Georgia.
