MURMANSK, May 17 (RIA Novosti) - The RIA news agency and the Federal Security Service's Border Control Department will present their joint reference-book project "Meet Russia. East and West" at a ceremony in Murmansk Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference here today, Vladimir Mochalov, head of the department's information analysis unit, stressed the importance of the reference book, saying that it would provide foreign visitors with extensive information about Russia's border control service.

RIA Deputy Director General Alexander Babinsky pointed out, for his part, that the reference book's mission was to make foreign visitors' stay in Russia comfortable in terms of information access.

The new book offers reference material on Russia's customs and border control regulations and its system of government. Norwegian nationals crossing into Russia through the Borisoglebsky highway checkpoint, outside Murmansk, will be among its first foreign readers. The book has been released in 20,000 copies, in Norwegian- and English-language versions.

The new reference book will also give foreign travelers a broader picture of the Murmansk region, Mochalov said, adding that similar projects may later be launched at other sections of Russia's national border.

Each copy will come with a map marking Russia's geographic zones and population centers and offering brief profiles of the country's flora, fauna, and tourist attractions.
