According to him, a number of new technologies, devices, equipment, medicines, etc. have been created in the academy. "Active participation of the academy in the education process should be a most important aspect of RAN innovation activities," Mr. Osipov said.
The Russian Academy of Sciences welcomes government decisions in this sphere and deems it necessary to immediately and precisely form a legal basis of innovation activities, the RAN President stressed.
Unfortunately, in the 1990s sectoral science lost its grounds. Meanwhile, the RAN role in the restoration of the chain "fundamental science - production" is growing today. So, academician Osipov proposed to form "innovation belts" around academic institutes.
These are non-academic organizations sharing research results with industry.
The RAN President focused on technical re-equipment of RAN institutions. "We decided to create collective centers of scientific equipment use for the sake of its greater efficiency," he said.
According to Yuri Osipov, the government should help reequip the academy even if it has to allocate money from the stabilization fund.
