The Warsaw international book fair gathers leadings publishers, writers and readers of Central and Eastern Europe. Last year 27 countries took part in the fair. About 30,000 people visited the fair and over 700 journalists covered its work. Spain was the guest of honor in 2003.
The Russian exposition will present books on Poland, translations of Polish authors, rarity editions on Poland from Russian archives.
The Russian exposition involving dozens of publishing houses will cover 1,500 square meters. The program includes presentations, literary readings, meetings with readers, roundtables with Russian writers, etc.
The first foreign presentation of the first volume of the Big Russian Encyclopedia will take place at the fair.
Warsaw will see a wide cultural program organized by the Russian Culture Ministry including a gala concert of Russian pop stars.
According to Russian Deputy Press Minister Vladimir Grigoryev, Russia's participation in the book fair in Warsaw will help the Russian language and culture regain its importance in Central and Eastern Europe.
