Yesterday Mr. Saltanov arrived in Beirut from Jordan where he was taking part in the World Economic Forum.
"We exchanged opinions on the situation in the region," Alexander Saltanov told journalists following the meeting. Russia and Lebanon have mutual understanding on many key issues, he added.
"Lebanon and Russia are interested in regional stability," Mr. Saltanov noted.
The sides also discussed efforts needed to settle the Iraqi and Mideastern crises, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said.
According to Alexander Saltanov, he informed the Lebanese minister on Russian proposals concerning possible ways of regional settlement. However, he gave no details on these proposals.
Mr. Saltanov will leave Lebanon on May 20.
