MOSCOW, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian and American business allocates 100 million dollars to settle the problem of South Ossetia (a self-proclaimed republic within Georgia; a former autonomy), Stanislav Belkovski, president of the National Strategy Institute, told the RIA Novosti round table on Tuesday.

"As far as I know, 100 million dollars has already been earmarked by two Georgian and one American businessmen to settle the South Ossetia problem. It is to be resolved before the end of autumn by settling some economic questions", he said.

"As regards Abkhazia (another self-proclaimed republic within Georgia), settlement is possible provided a zero option is proposed to Mikhail Saakashvili (Georgia's president). It intends that economic and police questions, as well as an acceptable settlement of the problem of refugees, remain for the Abkhaz side", the politologist believes. In his opinion, such a settlement may become possible by spring 2005.

"Saakashvili well understands that he should not lose momentum and preserve status as national leader only in setting 'sky-high' goals and resolving them", Belkovski said.
