This is provided for in the Russia-EU agreement concluded today within the framework of Russia's joining the World Trade Organisation, he said.
The agreement envisage the gradual price increase from the present 27-28 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres of gas to 37-42 dollars by 2006 and 49-57 dollars by 2010, Lamy said.
These prices are fully in line with the energy strategy approved by the Russian government, he assured.
He also noted that, after joining the WTO, Russia will preserve the Gazprom gas-export monopoly. We have gained good results from the point of view of access to the tube but not a full transit, Lamy said.
Energy was the most delicate problem in the Russia-EU talks, he noted.
He also said that in 2013 a transparent and non-discriminatory system of charging foreign airlines for trans-Siberian flights will be set up.
We have agreed upon updating the system of collecting payments from airlines for flights above Russia. It will be based on costs and will be transparent and non-discriminatory, he said.
