POLICE, UNIVERSITY AND CHURCH JOIN HANDS AGAINST DRUGS

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, May 26 (RIA Novosti) - The Federal Drug Control Service for the Sakhalin region, Sakhalin State University and the Sakhalin diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church have concluded a special agreement on joint counteraction against drug spread among youth (Sakhalin is Russia's island in the Pacific), the federal drug control service's Sakhalin department reported on Wednesday.

In addition to promoting a healthy way of life, it was proposed to form militia groups to patrol places where young people gather in big amounts.

The agreement is aimed to create youth entertainment zones free from drugs. The agreement was signed as a result of the conference, Drug Prevention Among Youth, held by Sakhalin State University. Participating in the conference were priests and representatives of the drug police.
