"We received the invitation and accepted it," Mr. Lavrov told journalists adding that the visit will take place as part of his participation in the ASEAN regional forum in Indonesia.
At issue will be the North Korean nuclear problem, Sergei Lavrov said.
The South Korean government expects the Russian Foreign Minister's visit to Seoul and Pyongyang in early July to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula and settle the nuclear crisis in North Korea, the South Korean information agency Yonhap reported on Friday.
According to its data, Mr. Lavrov is to visit South Korea on July 2-4 and after that a special flight will take him to Pyongyang. He is to spend two days in North Korea.
The forthcoming visit can promote diplomatic efforts on the solution of the North Korean nuclear problem and the building of a peaceful system in North-East Asia, the agency noted.
Sergei Lavrov's visit will be a response to this week's trip across Russia by the North Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ban Ki-moon.
Russia is involved in regional talks on the North Korean settlement together with North Korea, China, the USA, South Korea and Japan.
The third round of six-sided talks aimed to find mutually beneficial conditions to cease Pyongyang's nuclear program will be held in June in Beijing.
