* The 12th international arts festival "Stars of White Nights" (May 30-July 18) will start.
NIZHNY NOVGOROD
* The eighth A.Sakharov international arts festival "Russian art and the world" will open. For 16 days, the concert and theater stages will host 20 programs and performances with 350 actors from Russia, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, the U.K., Italy and Argentina participating.

* The Grozny-Moscow railroad route will be opened.
