"The restoration of the Abkhaz railroad is not on the agenda today as many political problems should be solved before the restoration works," Mr. Onoprishvili stressed.
According to him, the railroad in Abkhazia is seriously damaged in many places and bridges are in need of repair". "Much restoration work is to be done there," David Onoprishvili added.
"However, the Georgian Railways company should be ready to start restoration of the Abkhaz railroad as soon as some political solution is achieved," he noted.
In his words, he already discussed prospects for the restoration of Russian-Georgian railway communication on the Abkhaz sector with Vice President of the Russian Railways joint stock company Vladimir Yakovin, who visited Tbilisi to participate in the first Russian-Georgian business council on May 28-29.
