The chief negotiator for the South Ossetian side was Minister-at-Large Boris Chochiyev, the Novosti-Georgia news agency reports. His partners at the negotiating table included Mikhail Mayorov, Ambassador-at-Large of Russia's Foreign Minister; David Shervashidze, Georgian Agriculture & Food Minister; and Svyatoslav Nabzdorov, commander of a unified peacekeeping force in the conflict zone.
Chochiyev insisted that the Georgian checkpoint at the entry to Tkviavi should be demolished. He criticized Georgia for deploying military hardware, including Grad multi-barrel rocket launchers, in the Gori District.
In response, Georgian State Minister Khaindrava remarked that not all media sources are reliable. He described as a "non-official source" the television channel that carried reports about the deployment of Grad rocket launchers in Gori.
Russian Ambassador-at-Large Mayorov had this to say to his negotiation partners: A unique peacekeeping operation is being carried out in this region, and we should take caution not to undermine the successes achieved, but work to preserve and augment them.
