FEDERATION COUNCIL APPROVES PRESIDENT'S RIGHT TO APPOINT DEPUTY HEADS OF POWER MINISTRIES

MOSCOW, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - On Wednesday the Russian Federation Council unanimously approved the federal constitutional law on the President's right to appoint deputy heads of power ministries.

All in all, 156 Federation Council deputies voted for the introduction of amendments to the federal constitutional law On the Russian Government. Nobody voted against it or abstained.

According to the law, the President runs federal executive bodies involved in defense, security, justice, domestic, foreign and emergencies affairs directly or via federal ministers, said Yuri Sharandin, chairman of the constitutional committee of the Federation Council.

"Moreover, the President distributes the authorities between the ministers and appoints their deputies," the senator added.

In his words, the law was drafted to improve the legal bases of the Russian government's work.
