FARO (Portugal), June 13 (RIA Novosti's Nikolai Venediktov) - Portuguese coach Luis Felipe Scolari said after Portugal 1, Greece 2 opening match of the Euro Championship that Portugal vs. Russia would be an all-or-nothing match for his team.

According to Scolari, the defeat was mainly due to "players' individual faults" and their nervousness.

He also praised the Greeks' defenses and prompt counterattacks in which they scored twice.

Scolari went on to say that the only way for the Portuguese team to qualify for the playoffs was to win both coming matches of the preliminary stage.

Upset Portuguese supporters who watched the broadcast of the match in Faro said their team was technically and tactically inferior to the Greeks.

They also said that Scolari should have released a twin forward line with strikers Deco and Nuno Gomes from the very beginning. They said these two had taken over when it was too late to do something.

Many Portuguese supporters did not try to hide their annoyance with the defeat and described the performance of the their national team as helpless.
