"The resolution on Iranian nuclear programmes tabled by the European countries was imposed and dictated by the US, and we express a protest in this connection," Kharrazi told reporters.
According to him, "a final assessment of the meeting of the Board of Governors needs time. In this connection Iran's President Mohammad Khatami sent to European countries (Britain, Germany and France) a message in which he warns them of the need to fulfil their obligations on Iranian nuclear programmes."
Kharrazi urged the countries which are members of the IAEA board of governors to show logic in examining the "Iranian dossier", which, according to the minister, should be closed in the shortest time possible.
(The main problem which concerns the Europeans is the construction in the Iranian town of Bushehr in the south of the country of an atomic power plant, which is being erected by Russian specialists. Europe fears that nuclear fuel for this atomic plant may be used for the purpose of developing atomic weapons).
"If the remaining problems on Iranian nuclear programmes are solved, there will be no reason to include this issue on the agenda of the meeting of the agency's board of governors," the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
He also drew attention to the fact that the parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran has not so far put up for consideration the question of ratifying an additional protocol, signed by the Iranian government, to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, but Tehran has fulfilled all the provisions of this document and cooperated with the IAEA on conditions of transparency, openness and confidence.
Earlier the representatives of three European states (Britain, Germany and France) had tabledfor the consideration of the meeting of the IAEA board of governors in Vienna a draft resolution which is censorious and anti-Iranian in character.
