LIST OF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES IN CHECHNYA GROWS

GROZNY, June 16 (RIA Novosti) - Three more people have sent applications to run for president to Chechnya's Central Election Commission, Buvaisar Aslakhanov, the committee's spokesman, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

"We have received applications from Moscow businesswoman Zura Magomadova, Sergo Khachukayev, a 53-year-old lawyer from Grozny, and the general director of the state unitary enterprise Chechenneftekhimprom from Krasnogorsk, Moscow region," Mr. Aslakhanov said.

"Yesterday, pensioner Husein Bibulatov from the town of Elektrogorsk, Moscow region, sent his documents to be registered as a candidate for the president of Chechnya," he said.

Earlier, the commission registered: Marat Zainalabirov, a doctor from Rostov; an aide to Russian State Duma Deputy Alexander Malyshkin; Academician Sultan Aiskhanov, a surgeon; Adam Edilov, a lawyer from Grozny; Malik Saidulayev, a Moscow businessman; Mariat Garchkhanova from Urus-Martan; Vakhit Visayev from Nozhai-Yurt; and Magomet Aidamirov, a businessman from Tolstoi-Yurt.

The presidential elections in Chechnya are scheduled for August 29. The decision to hold them was made after Ahmad Kadyrov had been killed in a terrorist attack in Grozny on May 9.

Candidates can be nominated until July 14.
