MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Defense Ministry completely rules out the possibility of the nuclear ammunition leak from Russia.

"Leak of nuclear ammunitions or their components from Russia is impossible", the Defense Ministry press service told RIA Novosti commenting on the statement of the US commission investigating the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

The document, which was made public in Washington on Wednesday at the final 12th commission session, stated that the Al-Qaeda terrorists had been nurturing the idea of getting hold of a nuclear missile and delivering a strike against the US territory. According to the commission's information, the terrorists considered various ideas, for example, "to seize a launcher and force the Russian scientists to deliver a nuclear strike against the US territory".

"The leadership of the Defense Ministry and the Russian Armed Forces General Staff has repeatedly stated that all nuclear ammunitions, their elements and components are strictly controlled and thoroughly registered", emphasized the Defense Ministry press service.

Therefore, no leaks or, all the more, sales of nuclear weapons or their components are possible in Russia, stated the Defense Ministry. "It is absolutely impossible and it has been repeatedly stated by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov, first deputy chief of the General Staff Yuri Baluevski and other experts", stressed the press service.
