RUSSIAN BORDER GUARDS SEIZE 21 KG OF DRUGS ON TAJIK-AFGHAN BORDER

DUSHANBE, June 18 (RIA Novosti) - Yesterday Russian border guards seized over 21 kg of drugs on the Tajik-Afghan border. Drug couriers crossed the Pyandzh River and came to Tajik territory in the sector of the Khorogsky border detachment, the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service's border group in Tajikistan told RIA Novosti. When the border guards attempted to arrest them, the couriers threw away their drugs and escaped to Afghan territory.

Border guards found 21.27 kg of drugs, including 1.185 kg of heroin, 18.5 kg of marijuana and 1.585 kg of hashish, a Makarov pistol with cartridges, a hand-grenade and a Chinese antipersonnel mine.
