MOSCOW, June 18. ( RIA Novosti) The participants in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly declared for continued interparliamentary cooperation. This opinion was expressed flowing the results of a two-day work of three committees of the Parliamentary Assembly in Moscow.

"We should continue these meetings and we need both an open dialog and an exchange of opinion", said Lyubov Sliska, head of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly, first vice-speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament.

She recalled that three committees of the Parliamentary Assembly: on defense and security, on political issues and on science and technologies met in Moscow on June 17 and 18.

Representatives of the states that had recently joined NATO and the EU also took part in the meetings, she noted.

Characterizing the course of discussion, Sliska stressed that "we argued a lot, however, if we discuss only those issues that do not arouse debates, then we should stop these meetings".

In her words, parliamentarians focused on issues related to combating international terrorism, as well as armaments.

The discussion of these issues will be continued in the autumn in Venice this fall, she said.

The discussion has shown that "NATO does not take actions aimed at creating a threat to Russia," said Karl Lamers, head of the delegation of the German Bundestag.

The German parliamentarian added that "we live in the time of cooperation and cooperation on such a vital problem as combating international terrorism is proof of this".

Pierre Claude Nolin, chairman of the committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly on science and technologies, also spoke highly of the sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly in Moscow. "We should look for all opportunities for cooperation offered by the Parliamentary Assembly".
