The agencies have decided to merge their news services in order to reinforce their positions on the domestic and international news marketplace. In particular, Mironyuk said that the agencies did not regard one another as true competitors. "Cooperation between RIA Novosti and PRIME-TASS will enable the agencies to optimize their operations in an environment of tighter competition on the news market," she remarked.
According to PRIME-TASS's director Ananiev, the agencies settled that PRIME-TASS's financial and econoimic information in Russian, English, and other languages would be offered via RIA Novosti's media. New information products on various sectors of Russian economy will be developed jointly in the near future, the news agencies announced.
RIA Novosti has a lot of staff writers in Russia, CIS, and four dozen other foreign countries. The agency offers social, political, economic, scientific, and finance information in Russian, Arabic, and main European languages via electronic media and Internet on a daily basis.
PRIME-TASS is positioned in business quarters as a source of timely and reliable professional financial and economic information and is a top player of the economic news market in Russia.
