The Russian President thanked the ministries and departments involved in preparations for Russia's participation in the summits at a cabinet meeting on Monday.
"We had many interests there and solved many problems. I would like to thank the ministries and departments involved in the preparations. Your forecasts were justified and our goals achieved," Mr. Putin stressed.
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov informed the President and cabinet members on the signing of agreements on the simplification of visa regulations with France and Italy.
"The documents came into effect after the signing but need ratification," Mr. Lavrov added.
In his words, these agreements simplify travels of Russian businessmen, scientists, culture figures and sportsmen. Multi-entry visas will be granted for five years.
Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev told those present about his participation in the session of CIS interior ministers.
"We discussed anti-criminal, anti-terrorist and anti-drug programs," he said.
Moreover, the sides decided to work out a joint program to combat illegal migration in the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2005-2007, Rashid Nurgaliyev said.
Economic Development and Trade Minister Gherman Gref and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin focused on economic issues.
According to Mr. Gref, the GDP growth in May totaled 0.5% and the industrial production grew by 7.3% in five months.
Gherman Gref pointed out the growth of engineering, car and food industry, and investments.
However, he spoke about the instability in the stock market and in the market of corporate bonds.
The Finance Minister told Vladimir Putin about the increase of the Russian financial system's dependence on the situation in the world markets.
"We need immunity to protect the interests of Russian investors from the developments in the world financial markets," he stressed.
