Moreover, Vladimir Putin signed a federal law "On gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, processions and pickets". The law was adopted by the State Duma on June 2, 2004 and approved by the Federation Council on June 9, 2004.
The federal law aims to provide the constitutional right to hold peaceful gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, processions and pickets. It establishes the order of the above-mentioned public events in Russian territory, regulates interaction between the state and local authorities and organizers and participants in these events, the order of public security and grounds to stop them.
The law also outlines the sites and territories where public events are prohibited.
Besides, the President signed the federal law "On the ratification of the optional protocol to the convention on the overall liquidation of women's discrimination", the press service reported.
The federal law adopted by the State Duma on June 2 and approved by the Federation Council on June 9 was signed on behalf of the Russian Federation on May 8, 2001.
According to the protocol, the committee established by the convention is authorized to accept and consider statements that signatory states violate their rights mentioned in the convention in case if the internal law fails to protect these people.
The optional protocol was submitted for ratification by the Russian President.
In addition, Vladimir Putin signed the federal law "On the introduction of amendments to separate legislative act of the Russian Federation" concerning the deferment of call-up to deputies and officials of different level and candidates for deputy.
The relevant provisions were introduced into the law "On conscription and military service".
