MOSCOW, June 21 (RIA Novosti) - A delegation of Iranian journalists who visited this country at RIA Novosti's invitation wanted to discover Russia.

"As a matter of fact, we discovered Russia from better side," chief delegate Shirzad Bozorgmehr, Iran News editor-in-chief, told RIA Novosti.

In his words, the program of their staying in Russia was wide. The journalists met with Russian parliamentarians representing Chechnya in the State Duma and Chechens living in Moscow, for instance, NTV anchor Aset Vatsuyeva.

According to Iranians, they had a sincere, interesting and somewhat unexpected discussion of many issues, first of all, Chechen problems.

"Our interlocutors have explained to us that Chechen militants do not fight for national interests but want to ruin Chechnya. If order is restored in the country, they will lose their sources of financing. Most Chechen people do not support Chechen militants and feel no hostility for Russia," the Iranian journalists stressed.

The meeting with Aset Vatsuyeva, they were surprised to learn that a Chechen woman works at one of leading Russian TV channels. "This is also important," Shirzad Bozorgmehr noted.

The guests also met with heads of the federal agencies for culture and cinematography and atomic energy Mikhail Shvydkoi and Alexander Rumyantsev, Russian politicians, businessmen, representatives of the Foreign Ministry, federal service for control over trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, and the Moscow government. In this connection, Shirzad Bozorgmehr mentioned the forthcoming visit to Tehran by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov.
