MOSCOW BACKS PYONGYANG AT SIX-SIDED TALKS IN BEIJING

BEIJING, June 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russia considers that North Korea's position at the six-sided talks in Beijing on Pyongyang's nuclear settlement in logical, Russian chief delegate, ambassador at large Alexander Alekseyev said on Tuesday.

North Korea confirmed its previous position to freeze nuclear programs in exchange for compensation for energetic losses, Mr. Alekseyev said following the bilateral meeting with North Korean chief delegate Kim Kyo Gwang.

"We understand the logic of this position and will try to combine various stands with U.S., Japanese, South Korean and Chinese counterparts," Alexander Alekseyev noted.

The Russian and North Korean diplomats agreed to cooperate during the third round of the six-sided talks opening on Wednesday to achieve compromises, the Russian chief delegate concluded.
