"The specific feature of these talks was that they were held after a Russian-Argentine business forum. It provided good grounds for ensuring the prospects of our trade and economic cooperation," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized.
The governments of Russia and Argentina also signed the agreement on military and technical cooperation.
"My counterpart and I reacted to the real concrete interest that had appeared in the Russian and Argentine business," Lavrov pointed out.
The parties agreed on specific moves in the trade regime that depends on the governments.
"We expect that this may provide political support for cooperation between private businessmen," the Russian minister said.
"The agreement creates a good ground for increasing cooperation in the military and technical sphere", he added.
This cooperation "will be carried out in strict compliance with internationally recognized norms", Lavrov underlined. The agreement was signed Argentine Foreign Minister Rafael Antonio Bielsa and director of the Russian Federal Military and Technical Cooperation Agency Mikhail Dmitriyev.
The two ministers pointed out that they found many common approaches to different spheres of bilateral cooperation, they said. For example, they share the opinion that it is necessary to strengthen the UN's central role and to encourage a more active role of regional organizations.
The parties also agreed to maintain contacts in sports.
