UKRAINE, RUSSIA, AND BELARUS'S SECRET SERVICES PARTICIPATE IN EXERCISE IN MOLDOVA

CHISINAU, June 27 (RIA Novosti) -- The West Antiterrorism 2004 joint antiterrorist exercise of four CIS states began in Moldova on Sunday.

The Information and Security Service of Moldova told RIA Novosti that the exercise was authorized by the CIS secret services directors and by Moldovan top state executives.

According to the Moldovan security service, such an exercise was necessary because the agents should practically rehearse liaison in extreme environment, special services with more antiterrorist experience should be involved to share their expertise, and a practical procedure of implementation of what is written in the national legislation should be developed.

The exercise that will last until Wednesday includes joint antiterrorist and anti-sabotage operations on railways and onboard airplanes. Training action will involve men from Belarus, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine.
