On Sunday, June 27, the Russian exhibition The Kremlin - the Glory of the Lord and Grandeur of Tsars was opened in one of the most prestigious museums of the German capital for wide public.
The treasures shown at the exhibit arouse surprise and admiration, said Christina Weiss, the German Minister of State for Culture speaking yesterday at the exposition opening.
In her words, the exposition became a glorious culmination of Russo-German cultural meetings of 2003-2004.
The exhibits - icons, portraits, jewelry, utensils and clothes, armor and arms, books and cards - are "unique in their antiquity and artistic value," said the head of the Russian Federal Archive Agency, Vladimir Kozlov who took part in the ceremony.
In his opinion, the fact that such a great number of masterpieces among which some are Russian state regalia left the country for a lot of months, "is evidence that Russo-German cultural ties are strengthening."
In early 2004 the exhibit was showcased for 3.5 months in Bonn. About 165,000 people visited it. The Berlin exposition will close on September 13.
