NOVGOROD-SEVERSKY (Chernigov region, Ukraine), June 27 (RIA Novosti) - The Father Superior of the Savior-Transfiguration Monastery of the Ukrainian city of Novgorod-Seversky, Metropolitan Vladimir calls to preserve the unity of Slav nations.

The Metropolitan called to "preserve the unity of Slav nations, their common spiritual and historical origin" during the ceremony of consecrating the monastery, where Ukrainian, Russian and Belarussian Presidents Leonid Kuchma, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko were present.

The three leaders examined the monastery, visited the museum devoted to the masterpiece of Ancient Russian literature, The Lay of the Host of Igor (Its main hero - Prince Igor - ruled in Novgorod-Seversky at the end of the twelfth century).

Then a dramatized performance based on the Lay took place.

After the performance, the three presidents visited the native village of President Leonid Kuchma, Chaikino.
